TOPIC: Trauma, Attachment and Treatment

 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  1. Participants will be able to identify a minimum of three different types of childhood trauma and how it may manifest physically, emotionally and behaviorally within childhood and/or in adulthood.
  2. Participants will be able to identify three treatment interventions.
  3. Participants will be able to identify the importance of a healing and supportive network and a therapeutic home environment  in order to aid the healing of the traumatized child. 

The presentation will identify and address different types of trauma a child may encounter in various settings, specifically within an environment where the main caretaker(s) are the source of the child's trauma. The effects of the trauma and how the trauma may manifest itself emotionally, behaviorally, physically (psychosomatic concerns) in the child and if not addressed within adulthood. The behavioral and physical relationship/attachment style the child/adult may have with their peers and adults in their life as a result of unprocessed trauma. 


Different recommended treatment and intervention approaches within a multi-agency/parenting therapeutic interventions will be identified and discussed.
