SPEAKER: Shawn Carter, Ph.D.

CNS Healthcare

Dr. Shawn Carter joined CNS Healthcare Orlando as a Clinical Psychologist/Sub-Investigator in 2017.

Dr. Carter serves as an Investigator and conducts diagnostic evaluations and ratings for patients. He earned his doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Northern Illinois University and completed his clinical psychology internship at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System in 2012. Dr. Carter previously served as an Investigator/Psychologist at the University of Central Florida.  He conducted clinical behavioral trials examining the efficacy of individual and group therapies for PTSD among combat veterans.


TOPIC: Medication Update


 LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

1. Discuss the history and development of antidepressant treatments

2. Identify current SSRIs and SNRIs and their method of action

3. Identify new receptors being studied in the treatment of depression

4. Discuss investigational drugs and how this might change treatment in the US


IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

MHCCF meets on the third Friday of every month, except for July and December. Unless otherwise specified, our meetings are held at All Saints Church, 338 E Lyman Ave, Winter Park, Fla., with registration starting at 8:30 a.m. and the program from 9 to 10:30 a.m.

It is free to attend MHCCF’s monthly meetings; however you must be a paid, professional member of MHCCF to qualify for 1 CEU. Active professional members of MHCCF are required to sign in and sign out at each meeting to receive a CEU. Please have your license number available upon check-in.
