“Cultural Competency Starts at Intake" by Jenna Burton, LMHC

August 21, 2020

There is a vast need for a multi-culturally aware approach to psychotherapy and it starts with a culturally competent intake and assessment.  This training will define cultural competence, cultural humility, offer more culturally aware questions to ask on your intake forms, and provide tools to use during your initial session to address cultural and socially based trauma.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1. Define Cultural Competence and Cultural Humility.

2. Provide practical learning experiences for skill development in completing culturally competent intakes and assessments.

3. Develop an action plan towards becoming more culturally competent when completing intakes and assessments.
