Presentation Summary:

Being trauma informed is a critical component in being an effective mental health therapist. There is ongoing research in the field of trauma, to include the Polyvagal Theory, that has shown to provide even more light on the mind-body connection of trauma, as well as effective ways in treating PTSD/C-PTSD.  The presentation will provide an outline of how trauma may become manifested physiologically and behaviorally, how our relationships help shape our physiology, as well as identify therapeutic techniques that have shown to decrease symptoms of PTSD/C-PTSD.

  3. Participants will be able to define and describe the Polyvagal Theory.

  4. Participants will be able to identify at least three different techniques to reduce symptoms of trauma.
