Presentation Summary:

Child Parent Relationship therapy (CPRT) can be used as a primary tool in how to utilize skills with parents as a way to not only built trust and rapport, but to help with emotional and behavioral dysregulations in all settings. Giving parents additional tools for their parent toolbox and small ways to start engaging, parents of potential kiddo clients to work with or current kiddo clients to work with. Attendees will be provided with a brief overview of play therapy skills and techniques and how to use those to enhance the child-parent relationship using Child Parent Relationship Training (CPRT). 

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will review the various forms of play therapy.  

  2. Participants will gain an understanding of Child Parent Relationship Training (CPRT)  

  3. Participants will learn how to implement Child Parent Relationship Training in sessions with parents.  

  4. Participants will also understand how to implement CPRT skills in a parent group setting, to aid facilitation of group therapy sessions. 

Speaker Bio:  

Katie Henson, MS, LMHC

Katie Henson is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, currently working as an independent contractor with Pineapple Therapy as well as Life & Hope Counseling. Katie works with children ages 4-12 alongside their parents or guardians using Child Parent Relationship Training. She practices self care at every opportunity given by spending time with her husband, exploring all of the state parks that Florida has to offer and enjoys kayaking, hiking and swimming in a spring or river as well as any national parks. Katie also loves family time and watching her niece and nephew grow.
