Presentation Summary:

Group experiences can be impactful and life-changing opportunities to help clients heal, gain accountability, and re-evaluate their situations. While there are a variety of group topics provided in multiple group support settings such as retreats, group therapy, and psycho-education, it is important to understand what type of experience is most beneficial to clients in order to design the most appropriate curriculum. This presentation will provide participants the tools they need to properly execute impactful group experiences that leave clients more empowered to take control of their lives.

Learning Objectives:

1. Participants will learn the significance of group experiences through exploring the benefits and impacts on clients.

2. Participants will learn how to differentiate group experience types in regards to content delivery and which type of experience best fits the needs of the group and/or focus topic at hand.

3. Participants will learn how to design effective group curriculum from start to finish with considerations to content nature and flow.

4. Participants will explore potential challenges to consider in implementing group experiences.


Speaker Bio:  

Sabriya Dobbins, Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern, is an award-winning Founder of Project Passport and Life Discovery Expert. Sabriya graduated from North Carolina State University with dual Bachelor’s degrees in Animal Science and Social Work. As a Master Life Coach and Mental Health Counseling Graduate, she launched a preventative mental wellness company that hosts engaging group activity experiences that focus on providing tools and solutions to help companies, organizations, and individuals take control of their mental health. Sabriya is now a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern, providing services at her new practice Fruits of Freedom Counseling under the supervision of Dr. Letitia Browne-James, LMHC. During her time at Flourish Counseling Co. as a graduate intern, she designed dynamic boundaries, codependency, and self-trust group therapy experiences that helped clients to learn tools for healthier living while also processing historical mental health injuries. Sabriya's unique style of group experience delivery allows clients to undergo positive transformation more quickly and encourages life experimentation in a safe space.
