Presentation Summary:
Did you know in order to be a licensed therapist you only need one class in human sexuality? Despite the fact that sexuality is a natural and biological part of being human, stigma impedes on the counseling room. Lack of education and fear on this topic can cause counselors to be ineffective in treating even the most common sexuality issues within therapy. This course will help you uncover your own biases and educate you on important sexuality basics so you will feel more confident in sessions when sex topics are presented. This course will also help you identify when referrals are necessary and how to refer appropriately.
Learning Objective:
Participants of this training will be able to identify their own cognitive biases towards sexuality and how this may impact client relationships.
Participants will be able to identify common sexuality myths that often cause harm to clients within traditional therapy.
Participants will be able to identify the 6 pillars of sexual health.
Participants will be able to understand when general counseling is not enough and referring to a sex therapist is necessary.
