Counseling young children can be frustrating for counselors without play therapy training. Children communicate and process their inner turmoil differently than do adults. Play therapy allows the therapist to enter the child’s world and meet the client where he or she is developmentally. This workshop will introduce participants to the basic tenets of play therapy and demonstrate its effectiveness through client case studies and video clips. The presenter will also guide participants through an expressive arts activity, one of many creative interventions within the world of play therapy.
