Topic: Bridging the Social Gap and Connecting Cultures: Autism Spectrum (Aspergers)
Description: Many workshops have traditionally discussed the general criteria surrounding the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). This workshop will take a more intimate look into some of the specific challenges associated with the Autism Spectrum (i.e. theory of mind, central coherence, executive functioning) and focus on how they impact daily life and relationships. Basic education will be provided in the above areas to build a better understanding and empathic view of individuals living on the spectrum. Helpful insights and tips will be shared as well that will benefit individuals on the spectrum, their family members and loved ones, teachers and healthcare professionals. Everyone will be challenged and empowered to learn the culture of the ASD community so that we may bridge the social the gap, better understand, connect and cultivate meaningful relationships.
