Presenter: Kathryn Norsworthy, PhD, Licensed Psychologist

Presentation:

Wherever you go, there you are:  On being fully alive in 2015!

Description:  What would it take to really “show up” for life?  So much of the time, we are dwelling in the past or the future – worrying, planning, remembering – rather than fully living each moment.  This interactive presentation will offer participants opportunities to explore mindfulness as both a vehicle for becoming more fully alive and as a liberating way of life.

Learning objectives:
Participants will:
  • Increase understanding of mindfulness as a vehicle for becoming more fully alive;
  • Experience two mindfulness practices that they can apply in their lives;
  • Contemplate a plan for bringing mindfulness into their lives in 2015 and beyond.
Bio:
Kathryn Norsworthy is a licensed psychologist, professor and chair of Rollins College Graduate Studies in Counseling, and a mindfulness practitioner.  She began studying and practicing mindfulness and other forms of Buddhist meditation over thirty years ago.  She has received extensive training in mindfulness-based stress reduction from Jon Kabat-Zinn and his group (now called Oasis Center) at U. Mass Medical Center and has incorporated mindfulness and other principles from Buddhist psychology in the training of counselors and psychotherapists as well as in her own therapy practice since 1994.
